God Pods

When I was growing up I remember always hearing “what you spend time doing shows where your priorities are”. As a young kid I didn’t fully understand that statement. At that age there isn’t very many things you are having to choose between to prioritize.

At 35 😱😳😩

That statement cuts deep where I’m at now. I can see why it was preached at such a young age because obviously it will stick with ya.

Dictionary definition of prioritize (verb)

designate or treat (something) as more important than other things.

Our flesh tends to think we know how to prioritize, but we truly don’t. I would bet most of us do not treat our time with God more important than other things.

Imagine you are getting ready to enter a maze. At the beginning of the maze you are told “all roads lead to the same end, but some paths are more difficult based off how you choose”

Now imagine you have the creator of the game in your ear with some air pods. The creator is telling you how to choose.

If we treated the maze creator like we treat the creator of all, this is what it would like.

A lot of us take those air pods and put them on the lowest volume possible. We would start listening to the other game players, who have no clue which path leads where but for some reason we assume they know better than the creator.

Some of us would straight up take the pods out and put them in our pocket because we “know” where to go.

I’m sure you get where I’m going by now.

I know you’re thinking, “man if only God really did speak audibly in our ears”

I feel you 💯

In fact, I struggle with this daily.

We weren’t created to prioritize our life alone. We have the holy spirit. The Holy Spirit communicates on our behalf.

“But when the Father sends the Advocate as my representative—that is, the Holy Spirit—he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you.” John 14:26 NLT
“And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words. And the Father who knows all hearts knows what the Spirit is saying, for the Spirit pleads for us believers in harmony with God’s own will.” Romans 8:26-27 NLT

He sent the Holy Spirit and the spirit groans on our behalf.

Jesus didn’t come to the Earth and do it all by himself. He was always retreating to solitude to commune with His father.

There isn’t some grand scheme or power play. It’s simply this

Retreat to solitude. That is the priority.

Is your volume down? Did you take out your air pods and put them in your pocket or did you throw them on the ground and crush them beneath your feet?

Put in your God Pods. Turn up the volume!

Don’t wait until you’ve hit rock bottom to listen to God, do it now.

Save yourself some heart ache.

Make that counseling appointment you’ve been meaning to make. Call that friend that always knows how to listen. Mend relationships or sever toxic ones

Whatever it is you’re struggling with, lay it down at the foot of the cross.

Max out the God Pod volume

The only priority you need is time with your Father. When you put that as priority, all the rest comes naturally.
