Ironic, Don’t ya think?

Have you ever noticed how much irony we live amongst?

ironic – happening in the opposite way to what is expected, and typically causing wry amusement because of this.

Google dictionary

My husband plays in our church praise band and they had an awesome opportunity to play with another church over the weekendZ

The place where they played was “railroad park”

When I heard the venue I was like 🤔🤔how on earth do you put together park and a train. Seems pretty counterintuitive. Not gonna lie when the first train sounded it’s horn I got anxious thinking my one and 3 year old were going to have a melt down.

The 3 year old was amazed and the 1 year old didn’t care (I covered her ears)

Amphitheater by a railroad…

Ironic, don’t ya think?

Needless to say this venturing out with both kids kept us out late.

You would think when you put a baby to sleep later.. they sleep later…right?!? I know all you mamas out there giggling hence the “wry amusement” verbiage in the definition.

6am she was screaming to get up (she normally sleeps until 730)

Ironic, don’t ya think?

All this irony had me thinking about the things in our Christian walk that carry some “wry amusement”. One is when we are called to pray for people we don’t want to. People who get under our skin and really get us worked up. I won’t bore you with mine 🤣

BUT I do know when you pray for your enemies, God wins and you ultimately win.

Say what?!? Ironic! Don’t you think?!

Yep. When you stop and pray for that coworker who ALWAYS erks you, you are softened up to what that person may be struggling with. This softens you’re heart where you can minister to that person.

Guess what. You minister to them, they find Jesus and BAM they no longer drag down people around them because they have accepted the forgiveness of Jesus Christ.

You may be thinking, but Emily the person that makes my blood boil is a Christian 😳🤭

This, my friend, is when you pray for God to convict. If your brother or sister in Christ is trapped in sinful behavior they need the Lord’s help to pull them out. This starts by you praying for them daily. maybe even twice daily. I warn you, you may find that they are not the only problem. Part of asking for conviction upon others is asking God to show your own inequities.

None of us are perfect.

Romans 3:23 says for we ALL have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.

Thanks to Jesus we no longer live condemned, but we will always need the conviction of the Holy Spirit.

“Why do you see the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye?” Matthew 7:3 ESV

If there are people around you that are driving you insane, stop and assess your own heart. Ask God to convict you and pray for your enemies.

Look for railroads to place parks, put the baby down early, and pray for your enemies.

The park thrives, the baby sleeps til 730, and lives are changed for the better (including yours).

Brother Waymond told us this week we need to be asking for Jesus Christ sized things. Are you asking big and having faith that God can and will answer?

Ask Big – Believe Big – Love Big

Rinse and repeat 🤗
