KarenWarm Christianity

Have y’all ever felt bad for the Luke in “lukewarm” ? Present day equivalent would be “Karenwarm” Totally joking here 😂, but I’ve laughed at that word and pondered the stripped down meaning.

The Greek transliteration is Chliaros (khlee-ar-os) and the word origin Chli means to become warm.

What does it mean to be lukewarm christian?

For me, it was my identity for 20 years.

I’ve loved Jesus from the moment I accepted Him into my heart. I have not always honored Him. Up until about 3 years ago I was living life in a very Chliaros way, I was warm for Jesus.

You may be thinking well “what’s wrong with warm? At least its not cold 🤷🏻‍♀️”

I hear you! I felt the same way. I lived for Jesus on Sunday. I prayed during the tough times and during conversations that lended easily to saying so, I would profess myself as a Christian. I didn’t hurt anyone. I loved my people. I tithed, went to church semi-regularly, and overall I wasn’t too bad.

What changed?

Revival.

I’m not talking about the scheduled Sun-Wed night revival at the church. I’m talking about a network of Christians rising up and living out loud.

In my hometown we’ve had several churches offer retreats that have completely set our hearts on fire.

I recently watched The Chosen (highly recommended) and in season two we see Mary Magdalen fall back into her past ways. Jesus sent Simon and Matthew to go find her and bring her back.

She didn’t feel like she could Come back after she messed up.

Y’all the welcome back that Jesus gave her was absolutely beautiful!

It’s the same hug Jesus gave me when I stopped running. When I stopped trying to do it all on my own. When I stopping living for Emily.

Our world is hurting. Our world is unrecognizable and the only way to see change is a worldwide revival, and In the words of casting crowns “It starts right here” with you.

Are you warm and cozy?

Lukewarm?

When is the last time you got out of your comfort zone and did something for the kingdom?

If you can’t remember then, you my friend need revival.

A quote from the song “it starts right here”

He will hear from Heaven and forgive our sin We’re the people who are called by His name If we’ll surrender all our pride and turn from our ways He will heal our land but it starts right here We’re the people who are called by His name If we’ll surrender all our pride and turn from our ways He will hear from Heaven and forgive our sin He will heal our land

It starts right Here, casting crowns
“Turn us again to yourself, O Lord God of Heaven’s Armies. Make your face shine down upon us. Only then will we be saved.” Psalms 80:19 NLT

Surrender your pride

Turn from your ways

Rely on Jesus.

Leave behind that lukewarm Christianity and embrace the sold out, on fire life for Jesus.
