Unthankful, Ungrateful, BLESSED

Y’all have seen the signs in homes all around “thankful, grateful, blessed”

Are we though?

Blessed, yes. Thankful and grateful? Not really

I’m not sure our culture truly knows what it means to have gratitude. I struggle with it daily. From the moment I wake up to the moment I lay my head down, every breath I breathe is a gift but yet I let myself get irritable and forget.

Thanksgiving always seems to bring out peoples verbal best.

You know what I’m talking about. The days of thankfulness that starts on Nov 1. Are they a great testament of what we should be doing.. absolutely. A numerous about of people post daily things and I look at the lives they live and I know for a fact they wake up grateful for those things year round.

Who am I to judge though? I can’t. My job is to be grateful for what God has given us and share it with everyone around me.

I fail a good bit, but like the Bible tells us, we must “die to ourselves” daily

Jesus told us

“If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.” Matthew 16:24 ESV

Deny yourself. To be truly thankful and grateful we just do this.

That means deny happiness, deny wealth, deny health.. all of it. We have to be willing to offer all of that to Him and all the while be grateful.

Are you thanking God for the trials?

Retrospectively I have, but thanking him in the midst is a new thing I’m working on and to be honest. It is hard.

I can truly say it’s worth it though. These are the afflictions Paul tells us about in Collosians and we must thank him, be grateful and our blessing will come.

Are you living what all our signs say?

Are you really thankful and grateful? We are all blessed even when we don’t feel it. Once you start working on thankfulness and gratitude you will feel the “blessed” part of that phrase all the time.
